We're excited to announce the public beta of Bufstream, a drop-in replacement for Apache Kafka that's 10x less expensive to operate and brings Protobuf-first data governance to the rest of us.

We began designing Bufstream last year after hearing the same story from our customers. After adopting gRPC and Connect for service-to-service networking, they naturally wanted to keep using Protobuf in their streaming data pipelines, but the Kafka ecosystem didn't support their workloads well.
