I think it's funny they specifically cite the 80s when this was true of the decades BEFORE the 80s, too. Yes, if you can believe it, people lived entire lifetimes with payphones, paper maps, daily newspapers, huge vehicles, and not knowing exactly what was on a menu before you got to a restaurant.

I'm confused about the two one conservatives cars. Seatbelt where made manitory in '68, and the average car is larger now (although compact cars are smaller now, trucks and SUVs have increased in size and sales)

I was cleaning up some things and found the maps from when I used to walk everywhere, and also my handwritten pace notes telling me where and when to turn. Couple of weeks ago Google maps sent me through an industrial area with no sidewalks.

This person can't imagine having to remember 9 numbers, I can't imagine counting on your little nightmare rectangle always being there and never being broken or stolen when you need to get ahold of someone and you're having an emergency.

Things like this make me feel old... but at the same time I can't help but laugh. When I was young the things above were so normal; It blew my mind when people started complaining if they had to travel anywhere in order to learn something, even if what they wanted to know was down the road from them

Shoot, I didn't even have a cell phone until 2005. It's not even long ago that they became this ubiquitous thing, let alone mobile internet, GPS, etc.

#7 is blowing my mind…I don’t understand why people stress about restaurant reviews. Just go TRY the place, you might like it. The only score I worry about with restaurants is if they have a failing grade from the health department.

Ultimately things really aren’t THAT different. You can still have a bad meal because YELP reviews can be misleading. You can still get lost driving somewhere because map programs have misinformation. And carrying change around was no worse than carrying a phone in your pocket.

"How did people live?" idk man, people work with what they have in every age, whether it's horrible Google results about mushrooms or leeches to pull out evil spirits

Which is an excellent clue of who this type of post is supposed to make mad/harvest engagement from.
