One of the issues of rural life is drop-off cats. "Shelters" often won't take cats, and one socially accepted "solution" is to ditch them near a farm. If you don't like the concept of outdoor cats (and I agree), I always have extras that I don't have room in my house for.
My dad said he took my cat to a farm upstate and I wasn’t sure if he was taking the piss or not.
