I have done repairs on things like this, but they look very different & don't stretch the same. It'd be better to get someone who knows how to do rib knits to just re-knit it.

Find a knitter. This is an easy fix.

I suspect you might get some creative solutions if you have a non-chain knitting-oriented craft store near you, but it would be a visible fix. I love a well-worn sweater, personally.
