“The beatings will continue until morale improves”: why the government’s policy of austerity is a danger to national security

The government doesn’t have “a policy of austerity” they’ve just agreed a 22% pay increase for doctors and a 14% rise for train drivers. Hardly “austere”! 🙄🤦

If the govt *does* pursue a policy of austerity, we'll be fucked. At the same time, *so much* needs major investment that there *have* to be compromises, and expectation management is essential. It's early days; I'm still hoping we'll see that this leads to strategic prioritising not Osborne 2.0.

It's almost like they never learned about the rise of Hitler.
