damn… this hits so hard!
I tell my kids they live long enough to have a couple of careers. I'm Gen X, and it seems true enough for me and most of my friends.
Fortunately, I did a job I love since 2016 (that is, one from which I got laid off and my current job).
I never expected to have a job that I “liked”. My goal was to have the mindset that the quality of my life wasn’t connected to the quality of my moment-to-moment experience of my job. I tolerate my job. It’s a chore that I need to do in order to live, not unlike doing the dishes or laundry.
Still one of my favorite shows
40 was about the time that it really sunk in that I'd had any number of jobs I'd done well and got along nicely with everyone, but that I'd also never been promoted.
Man this isn't even real anymore we all working the shittiest food service/retail degree or not
I wonder if the writers were in their 40s and starting to hate being tv writers. I hear the job can be intense. At least it was rewarding then
What episode?
I’m incredibly lucky that I’ve been doing the same job since I graduated at 22 and I still enjoy it.
