Janet says they waited until after most of the treating physicians who advised them not to disclose Asimov's status had died, and couldn't be subject to criticism. A sad story in the history of HIV/AIDS and our own intolerance to disease.
I learned this at some point ~20 years ago? Maybe a reissue of one of his books? I'm pretty sure I never read Janet's biography where she finally came out with it. I wanted to say it was "Gold," but maybe not, unless it was some later edition including that about his life/death, or "I, Asimov."
Seeing this right after catching up on the latest episode of Foundation, and 💔
i never knew this. how sad, also for all the other victims of the aids shaming.
