mmm whatcha say
Itâs that time of day where I have a large beer and pour it in a fancy cold frosty glass and get distracted and forget about it until itâs room temperature.
Hey Charlotte area pals, please help spread the word about this Concord-based group airlifting supplies to nearby mountain towns affected by Hurricane Helene. @stevesteverers.bsky.social@theclay.xyz@peark.es@meghancolleen.bsky.socialwww.operation-airdrop.com/hurricane-he...
Evacuating is also a luxury that a lot of disabled people donât have! I sometimes have to use a manual chair but I have a lot of friends who use power chairs and one canât just hop in the car and go in that situation đ«
Iâm very frustrated to see how many people on here are trying to play Monday morning quarterback regarding a disaster that has killed dozens of people and destroyed entire towns.
This is a great example bc lots of people take vacations in western NC to âget away from it allâ in cabins with no internet, no tv, cell service in the mountains is spotty. I live in CLT but Iâve had many mountain trips where the main cabin had the only phone and it was a mile down the mountain!
I think many people outside of the region also donât understand how hard it is to access some of these areas even under the best conditions. Many town have one road in and out and those roads completely washed out before people had time to leave safely.
For several days my feed has been full of people who have never set foot in NC smugly explaining how they would have handled this so much better. I donât know what you think youâre contributing with this but fuck off!
A lot of retail and food service employers tell employees they have to come in even if thereâs a flood/hurricane/disaster. Itâs easy to say âjust quitâ but if your familyâs health insurance is tied to your job, you canât. Please direct your anger at companies who do this and not at poor people.
