My monthly #SaturdayLibrarian shift comes round faster and faster. We've already had some interesting donations this morning, including a file of material from the Cambridge Conservation Volunteers.
If you love fantasy books, you’ll definitely want to read this article. “A woman with dwarfism, Judy-Lynn del Rey was best known for founding Del Rey Books, a science fiction and fantasy imprint that turned fantasy in particular into a major publishing category.” #BookSky
Think of your favorite fantasy or science fiction novel. You’ll know the author and title, of course. But can you think of its editor or publisher?
Had a trip over to the north-west end of the county today - did a talk for Yaxley Library about fenland folklore. Certainly seemed to go down well - they've already asked me to come back!
Just had someone wander in with one of the first library cards with a barcode in Cambridgeshire - dating back to 1983 and our Plessey system. Another one to add to the collection of different designs over the years
Had a nice little trip over the border into Suffolk on Saturday - lovely day for it. Here's Haverhill Arts Centre in the old Town Hall.
All of them are awesome to be honest, I can't decide either!
I get around with a combo of Accessible train times and Real time trains, cause I can't hear the station announcements. I stay far away from anything actually from National Rail cause it never works right
Spending a bit more time looking at it, I don't think this is the right person. I've matched this one up to a different census sheet, but your Miss Walker certainly only ever lived either in the Observatory or just next to it. I've drawn a bit of a blank, but I'll certainly keep an eye out for her.
Have you got an address? I've got a Miss A Walker at 37 Histon Road.
