I KNOW, RIGHT?!?
I'm seriously having trouble thinking of an elected Jewish Republican with any kind of power in the party. No senators. Are there any governors? Senior House figures? For a while there the GOP had Eric Cantor as its top official in the House but he was primaried out a decade ago.
Isn't that kinda the whole point of RCV?
I mean, citizen street fascists maybe, but PPB is better funded than ever, entire classes of the citizenry are increasingly denied the right to exist, and Gonzalez has a decent shot at winning the mayorship. We mowed the lawn, sure, but unless we replace the sod, it WILL grow back.
Trump also doesn't wield religion enough (read: hardly at all) to be an effective fascist in the US. Christianity is too embedded in the history of this country to achieve fascism without it.
That's my kind of farm.
He fucking bragged about expanding the police during a segment about the concerns of Black voters. I expected a sleepy, slurry, stumbly overall presentation, but this gaffe was astonishingly severe.
We've been drenched in news about fossil fuels, oil'n'gas, and climate change for years, and on Israel's assault on gaza for months. How many unaware people can there possibly still be out there?
Oof. Ppl reading into what you don't say. Ran into this a lot on fb during the 2020 unrest. It was like, "Yeah, racist policing is terrible. Duh. But y'all seem to have that point covered with plenty of redundancy, so maybe my time is better utilized on some less-discussed facets of this moment?"
As is frequently the case, organizing across generational lines would yield a lot of value.
