This happens so much in games. “I have a GREAT idea for a game, YOU be the artist, now we just need a programmer and we’ll make this awesome MMORPG and I’ll pay you when it starts making millions!” The ideas always suck too because they don’t know how little they understand about anything.

I swear if I got a dollar for every time some dude (it’s just always a dude) thought he had the next million dollar MMO idea that he “just” needed people to execute exactly as it existed in his brain, I’d have at least 20 dollars.

Oof, I now remember the Gamedev.net forums years ago had so many people asking for help where they had an idea, they just needed all the other people to actually make it (for a percentage of future profit of course, they never had money now to pay). You'd get multiple of these posts per week...

This. Had a few ppl with no industry background or no foundation try to reel me into doing blind concept work for 'exposure' and 'big future royalties' and I always turn it down and 10x out of 10 that's the only time I ever hear of that project.

Used to be in a collab writing group and we'd all talk about ideas for making an MMO out of our setting. Even though some of us were artists and programmers, and we did float mechanics, we knew it was too daunting to ever happen

I encountered this a bunch years ago on deviantart as a teen so I get extra whiplash whenever I see grown ass men still at that.

College students be like “I have this great idea! I’ll make an open world RPG like Skyrim — but bigger and better written! And it’ll work because it… sounds cool in my head!”

Wow, if only I had known that I could get a billion dollar idea off the ground with Jo skills or effort on my part instead of wanting to actually contribute to the idea in my head
