most oc artist hate when their characters get compared to some random stuff I don't care how funny people think they are, or how non-malicious they think it sounds, just pls cut that out, no one wants to hear that their original creation looks like something else

This reminds me of the comments beneath a piece I commissioned of one of my characters a couple years ago :') Like...okay??? No one asked?? I mostly felt bad for the artist though because those were the only comments they got

I get you, although nowadays I shrug it off since I do not know their intentions (most of the time it's innocent) and put my energy into something else. Two of mine got compared to Dracula and Mario 😅

lol this is what I'm talking about some rando just shows up with an empty acc, spews bs like this and tells you, the artist, how you should act when some dumb asshole makes you uncomfortable 🤡

Legit!! Unless we bring it up ourselves and start that conversation, just keep it to yourself whether or not we know the comparison you're making, it's literally a matter of politeness.

I think non-artists see it as "oh cool, this art reminds me of *character i like*, which is why i like it!" An artist sees that comparison and hears "Your idea is unoriginal - heres where its been done before". Keep the comparisons in your head, please 🙏

this so much... only acceptable comparison i personally dont mind is if its something like a feeling.. example: this reminds me of a cozy autumn day (when the art depicts scarves or some.. legit vibes like that) but compared to other media or even other peoples ocs? noping out fast 😭
