the main reason I am becoming a little pessimistic about the election is looking at all the media and academic professionals on Bluesky who cannot do this either. I'm enough of a mutant that all these modes of thought are a little distant, and I sigh every time I have to change cartridges.

I get this pessimism but I think total shitheels are always going to be overrepresented in the public discourse and when they start to become your picture of the median voter it's time to log off for a bit.
