I think "I need more details" is the way that low information voters save face. It's quite likely that the people "wanting more info" on Harris don't really know about menstrual surveillance either -- they just vibe with Trump more or don't care either way but want to sound smarter than that.

I constantly have to remind myself that many MANY people just don't follow politics like I don't follow sports. I plug in every couple of years for the Olympics and then the rest of it is mostly background noise. That is how millions of people interact with politics.

I don’t know that low information voters are motivated too much by saving face. Maybe the subset of them that talk to reporters.
