It’s literally impossible for anyone to have PhD-level expertise in using technology that has only been widely public for a year, also, so this is just a really craven attempt to expertise-wash *while* deprofessionalizing (kind of mind-boggling if you think about it that way)

Honestly, they should be embarrassed.

It's also deeply sad that it references first-year composition. It's your first year in college and your university has already abandoned the idea that you will ever have an original or interesting thought of your own.
