Apolipoprotein E is a multifunctional glycoprotein with the most well known roles in lipid transport and metabolism by serving as a ligand for cellular receptors such as low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLRs) and heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs).

ApoE4 is reportedly associated with an increased risk of delirium during #COVID19-related hospitalizations & cognitive loss , dementia in #LongCovid . More studies are needed to determine the ApoE isoform-related symptoms and pathological consequences in #COVID19 patients.
