Yep. I ran a mail node and a BBS on a Tandy 3000 for several years. Was just reminiscing about FOSSIL drivers with another user a few days ago. Good memories.
We called systems like those "war boards" - typically BBSes that featured forums where users traded insults and banter. Pirated software too, but that was usually hidden from the average user. I was a sysop of several back in the day.
