Halloween cat safety tips from Alley Cat Allies! twitter.com/alleycatalli...

Purple graphic with text over most of it and a photo of a tabby kitten in a plush jack-o-lantern on the right side. The text reads:
"Halloween safety tips for cats
Be mindful of decorations - keep fire hazards, fake webbing, and wires out of cats' reach. Provide cats a quiet area - choose a quiet, sealed off room and provide food, litter, and water. No candy for cats! Many halloween candies, especially chocolate, are toxic to cats. Microchip your cat. A microchip will help you reunite should a cat dart out the door. Your love costumes, your cat doesn't. Respect your cat's feelings and don't force on a costume."

My cat wears a wizard hat for Halloween every year. And a wizard robe. He's a super chill cat, he doesn't mind.

Apparently, plain popcorn is something cats eat and enjoy in small doses. I only learned that yesterday.

I already gave my kitties some of their Halloween treats...some new safe kitty toys with catnip so they can get all wild acting. XD I'm gonna suggest that if people _want_ to give cats 'candy', give them some kitty treats. Those are like candy to kitties!

I've honestly never understood the point of pet costumes, yes.

Also, just skip the fake webbing entirely. It’s tacky and it traps birds.

If you have a screen door, take the screen/glass out of the top half and lock it. Then trick-or-treaters can be given treats through the door, and you can worry less about the opportunity of escape, because you keep the door closed.
