ASTRO BOT OST dropped yesterday! Just like the game, it’s a nostalgia fuelled celebration of joy. It even painted franchises I didn’t care much for before, such as God of War or Horizon , in a completely new light. But it’s original banger A Fire in Your Mind that’ll stay with me the longest.
Love to see The Spell Brigade, which we funded early on, shift 50k copies in two weeks after its early access release. It’s a fun co-op action roguelike in a whacky fantasy world with spell combination and friendly fire reminiscent of Magicka. store.steampowered.com/app/2904000/...

If you’re even remotely interested in the history of pro wrestling, don’t miss out Mr. McMahon streaming on Netflix. It’s an equally intriguing and appalling portrait of WWE mogul Vince McMahon, and the impact of sports entertainment on American culture and society. Fascinating stuff!
I love how @mossmouth.bsky.social and the UFO 50 team casually go “oh, we basically made an 8 bit version of The Swapper BUT SOMEHOW BETTER and ohh yeah we also made a sequel for it.” Value for money goes through the roof when you don’t focus on visual fidelity for a second.
Imagine signing a sequel to Monaco (developed on and off between 2006 and 2013), then being surprised that wowzers videogames sure do take a long time to make and end up kicking out everyone who understands that process. Everyone at Humble Games deserved so much better.
Another day, another talented studio shattered in the name of corporate greed. All these people deserved so much better. We can only hope they’ll bounce back to craft new and original ideas in a safer environment, where artistic expression is valued above shareholder value.
Reminder (because it came up today) that if you add “before:2018-01-01” to a google image search, you don’t get any AI art. Absolutely essential if you’re looking for reference
When a team as talented, experienced and critically acclaimed as @gutefabrik.bsky.social has trouble raising funding, I shudder to think what it’s like out there for brand new studios. Wishing the best of luck to anyone on this wonderful team. Huge loss for our industry.
Please, Please Play Please, Touch The Artwork 2 by Thomas Waterzooi. It’s another great example of Thomas’ knack for taking classic art (James Ensor’s this time) and turning it into a wonderful interactive experience. It’s got fun animations, relaxing music, and it’s completely FREE. Please.
