Hubbell took Esther on tour with him, but after hostile reactions from audiences to her, this was abandoned. Esther returned home to Amherst and worked for a local man. When his barn burned down, Esther was convicted and spent a month in prison. Then the activity ceased. 🧵9/12

Esther went on to have a quiet life, marrying twice and having a son with each husband. She eventually moved to the United States, where she died on Nov. 8, 1912 at the age of 52. As for what exactly happened, that is up for debate and there are skeptics. 🧵10/12
