finally solved this mystery after witnessing this cat walking proudly down the sidewalk with an entire chipmunk, trap and all, hanging out of her mouth. somewhere a few blocks over some cat owner has been finding dead chipmunks in traps they didn’t buy scattered across the porch. like six times

I had the same problem a couple years ago and all the traps disappeared, now I'm assuming something similar happened

This is weird because I also once tried to kill chipmunks with traps, and one time the trap just disappeared.

This is hysterical. I have "controlled" at least 2 dozen chipmunks this season so far. Sometimes I find some varmint has helped themself to part of the dead chipmunk in the trap, so I'll find only half of it left 🙀. Pretty sure its either a possum or fox, but could be a raccoon too. 🤷‍♀️
