spotted a leucistic bird at my feeder yesterday! It had the body language of a dark eyed junco, which is the most common bird at my feeder, so I’m assuming that’s what it is… so cool!

The bee has a full, round orange corbicula, or pollen basket, on its rear leg. The white turtlehead is a strange flower that resembles a brown-lined mouth on a white flower that is somewhat the shape of a turtle's head. The unopened buds above are green with violet edges, and the green bases of the spent flowers below have a long brown "tongue" hanging out which is actually the dried pistil.

The flower that the bee has entered clearly has a curved style with a fuzzy looking white tip, that perfectly rubs on the bee's back fuzz, for the transfer of pollen.

A male Splendid Fairy-wren, Malurus splendens perched on a grey stone wall. The intense blues of his plumage glow against a drab brown background. The bird has a shiny royal blue head, tail and back, with a deeper shade of blue on its belly. The primary feathers are a teal colour. The velvety black of the bird's nape and bib stand out and enhance the tiny pale blue feathers on its cheek (the ear coverts).
