Was this the tsunami caused by a massive earthquake where the attention to detail in recording various accounts from all over basically invented a new science? Had no idea about the picnic though, that's amazing

The tsunami would have been bad enough on its own. The fire did an even better job of wiping out the city. Interesting political and economic long-term effects! Wow horrifying, though.
