As marine animals, cephalopods live in the water, not on land. But Algae Octopus (Abdopus aculeatus) didn't get the memo, as they will regularly crawl on land to move between tide pools to eat whatever tasty animals might be there. #OCTOtober

An Algae Octopus (Abdopus aculeatus) crawling out of a tide pool on a beach. It is going up a small ledge. It is all shiny and smooth as it leaves the water. It is brown. The beach has wet, dense sand. There are four cone shaped creatures sticking out of the ledge to the octopus's left.
An Algae Octopus (Abdopus aculeatus) moving at night. Its head is up vertically, with its eyes lifted as high as they will go. The mantle its going out horizontal and half inflated, likely in the middle of pushing water out of the siphon, which is visible.. Its arms are long and trailing behind, showing which way the octopus is moving. The octopus is slightly greenish yellow with a whitish bit on the front of its head and mantle. It has small lightly coloured bumps on the arms, and its has its papillae raised. Some papillae, including the long horn like ones above the eyes, are sort of frilly.

An Algae Octopus (Abdopus aculeatus) sitting on the seabed in an upright position. Its arms are resting on the ground and its head and mantle are pointing up. It has a white strip going down the centre of its mantle and head down to the top of their centre arms.
