It's still bigger than literally anyone needs a hotdog to be. I think that extra inch would be a crime.

I once sold concessions at a sports stadium and we offered a “footlong hotdog” that was in fact only 11 inches. Despite that fact, nobody ever complained or doubted us so I’m glad we didn’t have any customers with measurement tattoos.
