FYI trans writer/actor Alice Marcone was involved in developing this show from the beginning, and Marcone wrote two scripts in the first season. When they were casting the adult version of Camila, Marcone auditioned and won the part, meaning she got to embody the character she helped to create.

Also, it was so great to chat with Nila, who plays Camila as a teenager. Nila was actually going through her transition as they were making the show, and she was able to reflect her own experiences in depicting the character. I also love that Camila isn't defined purely by being trans.
