Yeah you're right, the little I saw it of C# resembled Java (which I don't know much of either, but the syntax is recognizable). I think there's Delphi in the spirit, more than anything. Or maybe C++ Builder :D

Nope, Java was also in the spirit, and everywhere else, it was almost a complete rip-off. Micro$oft was heavily criticized for this, even by authors of Java and important figures in the C/C++ world.
