thanks, i certainly agree that foreign students need more transparency wrt working conditions, but i am specifically talking about 3rd party funded projects here where there is a disproportionate hiring of phds, so the onus should be on PIs?

we're looking at you 🧐 research projects that advertise a bundle of phd positions and not higher levels #irresponsiblehiring#cheaplabour

"Hundreds of racist plant names will change after historic vote by botanists." Also a new committee formed about problematic new names. It's not dealing with old names. Yet. www.nature.com/articles/d41...#AcademicSky#Systematics

I reviewed Mike Maunder’s book ‘House Plants’ for H-net. Recommend! I love this botanical series from Reaktion books too, they are really well produced! www.h-net.org/reviews/show...

unfortunately these were not based in berlin and i worry if generalisations may not apply here. I did work in an swedish think-tank with excellent working conditions. downsides of thinktanks: still more fast-paced & race for funding - i contributed to proposals even as a junior RA. Good luck!
