the "DEI pilots" thing is not only untrue, but the opposite of true. The piloting profession in the late 20th century was so dominated by one Guy Type that they had to invent a new kind of training that forced pilots to listen to their first officers so they would stop flying planes into the ground
I worked in the airline industry in HR for 14 years. There was nothing more scary than a convention of pilots looking to join the bigs. All white, same shirt, same suit, same tie, same haircut, same spiel. I enjoyed the Organization of Black Airline Pilots, some interesting and great talent.
Going after pilots after incidents where crew error wasn't a factor is another tell. CRM training hasn't fixed everything but it's definitely helped.
Cockpit Resource Management!
I’m sorry but what’s dei?
Pilots and doctors. We let them get away with literal murder out of pure privilege.
There’s no need to engage with DEI nonsense at face value, just accuse anyone ranting about it of wanting to bring back segregation and move on
1994 Fairchild B-52 crash was a significant contributor to that, iirc.
Used to work at an airline run by a bunch of that Guy Types who got turfed out by turning 60. 😐
Do you really trust a lady pilot?
When the B17 was introduced many refused to fly it because they thought it was too dangerous. So they got some woman pilots and suddenly the guys stopped complaining. Then the brass found out and shut it down.
