Excited to share our new indoorchem paper led by Jienan Li out today! We found that smoke VOCs form surface reservoirs and thus persist indoors - meaning that air cleaners and ventilation don't permanently remove them, but surface cleaning does... (Sorry, I hate mopping too)

Wildfire smoke persists indoors due to equilibrium partitioning to surfaces, but surface cleaning is effective to reduce exposure.

Thanks for sharing this & writing it (of course)! Esp useful for those of us in wildfire areas. You noted in the supplementary material, "A detailed examination of these air cleaners and their performance will be presented in a separate manuscript." Is there an expected publication date for that?

This was a fun collaboration with lots of people, including the Grassian group (UCSD), Morrison and Turpin groups (UNC), the NIST indoor air group (Dustin P, Michael L, Steve Z), and @marinavance.bsky.social - and thanks to all the other folks who helped with the CASA study!
