CS Lewis made a mistake by writing a book where someone learns that excessive greed is bad by having it transform him into a dragon, because I genuinely can't think of a stronger incentive to do anything than "This will TF you into a dragon"
we always assumed Lewis was just drawing on the myth of Fafnir for that bit; so presumably the mistake was made by Anonymous Old Norse Sources (or their point was misinterpreted)
Also remember how painful it was with the circlet on his arm not growing with him and constricting his arm pretty badly. Yeah, Lewis equated dragons with evil and greed, but I'd probably not want to have that kinda constant pain either.
Can I be greedy just long enough to get the dragon TF????
this one thinks the biggest problem is the accessory didn't grow to match so it was tight and uncomfortable
"If you continue to be a greedy jerk, you...WON'T turn into a dragon! That's right! You get to be a cool dragon if you share your wealth and commit to helping the world and-...yeah! THEN you get to be a cool dragon." Alternatively: "Fine, jerk, you're a stupid worm or something. With an O."
Going to get a slap braclet with T.W.T.F.Y.I.A.D
Lewis: "Look Roald I've turned the sin of greed into a horrid scaly metaphor for a young man's hubris!" Dahl: "Y-yes I see that; Very... compelling 💦"
I always thought this as a kid too
