The challenge is that appliance makers are not good at software and the fundamental flow in design doesn't decouple software from hardware. For example, I would love TV vendors to focus on making the best displays and allow me to run my choice of software, making it smart. Also applies to cars.
I have now trained myself not to go for these. The other day was "Sake" and "Kobe" and my first instinct was to look for a pattern there. I'm glad I didn't.
