But, it's like, I've heard people saying we shouldn't worry about climate change cuz we'll just invent something to "fix it" eventually and everything will be fine.

Yes, I agree, a techno-optimist viewpoint in the climate change case could be existentially damaging. I'm not extrapolating that far. I'm just observing a pattern of change through the years and hoping for something better than what we have now in line with that pattern.
