Here's why hurricanes are escalating more quickly than ever
Warm waters are like fuel for hurricanes, and hotter ocean temperatures are fueling explosive growth in storms.
Milton has now weakened to Cat 4 and I see some forecasts suggest it might make landfall as a Cat 3 (still very dangerous) storm tomorrow. But as it leaves the Yucután Peninsula heading east there is a chance it could re-intensify over the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone watching.
