The best Christmas carol is Silent Night, and it's not even close. Worst is O Come All Ye Faithful - dirge of a tune with one of the worst lyrics ever (Lo he abhors not the virgin's womb).

Silent Night is great, but no carol sounds better on an organ than Hark the Herald Angels. And the lyrics are fab

OCAYF is fine when played and sung at a good tempo. It's only a dirge when done (as so often) far too slowly.

Gotta say it still outshines "O Christmas tree, how lovely are your branches".
