Trump and (maybe more importantly) the MAGA wing of the Republican Party, now almost all of it, faced few-to-no legal or (maybe more importantly) electoral consequences for trying to overthrow the government in 2020, so they might as well try again.
Our system of government apparently isn't allowed to prevent itself from being overthrown by openly self-admitted fascists who intend to end our democratic republic in favor of a white nationalist ethnostate. In fact, attempts to stop it are to be blocked at every turn.
