It's about attention, and how it became the most important and endangered resource of our age. How the pursuit of it - the relentless extraction of it *from* us - creates a profound and ubiquitous feeling of alienation that I think defines our age.
We have gone from a nation of citizens to a nation of users.
This sounds wonderful. I find it odd sometimes that we live in a time in which small things like a moment of human connection or experiencing a sunset require mindfulness. The more we have, the more we seem to lose.
So, you're antsy about your book release because you, a man with a tv show, want more attention focused on you as you have written about... the dark side of other people's pursuit of attention? 😁
I can't wait!! There's the other side of the coin too, the preservation of organic channels where people can connect with one another honestly, freely, unmediated by commercial or political actors. The internet is still an incredible gift, however compromised; an Enlightenment of its own
