My son mentioned to me recently that Luna is hard to photograph. This is not news, as I in the moment, chose her because she was less-pretty than her adoptive companion, an apricot poodle mix. They agency showed me a blurry video capture of the two girls, barely more than puppies in a backseat car carrier, side by side in transit from New Mexico. Apricot girl had a pink bow in her hair. Luna's coat was overgrown and completely unrecognizable, just looked unkempt. Remembering the old adage, black- colored dogs get left behind UN- adopted from shelters, often destroyed, I chose Luna immediately. (Her temporary name was Roxy at that point) I thought oh my gord I'll never have her on Instagram, and oh well. I bet she's going to be a great dog. And she is, she is the very best dog. A near perfect creature, better than every dog I've ever had in well-behavior. So quiet, people remark upon it! Cat-like qualities in a dog. :-)

I adopted her for $300 from an animal rescue in North Phoenix. Luna has a coat of hair, necessitating regular grooming, which she absolutely hates. We've settled on taking her to a local groomer once a month ($60 plus tip). And me washing her face and goopy eyes everyday, and combing her head and tail. The only time Luna has been disagreeable has been while I've been grooming her, causing me to realize that she is deeply uncomfortable. Took us awhile but now I comb her with, I kid you not, a puppy brush. 😭
I budgeted for this dog, then and forever. Fuzzy dogs are really expensive, like a really nice hobby. Since my health includes full disability, Luna is an investment in my ongoing better health. Mental health! Impacts physical! Luna is a licensed companion animal in this state, meaning I cannot be legally discriminated against for having her as my companion. It explains my perspective about her being the most important living thing in my life. I'm happy to live my life with her ❤️
