Entirely new to me, from 50 years ago today, ONLY GOD KNOWS opens in Toronto. Co-written by and Co-starring the great Lawrence Dane. Director Pearson made the genuinely interesting PAPERBACK HERO, which might be in the running for The Most Canadian movie there is. Gonna have to check this out.

Black and white newspaper advertisement for the movie "Only God Knows," whose "Canadian Premiere Engagement Starts Today!" Its copy asks "Did you ever hear the one about the priest, the minister, and the rabbi?" above an illustration of the film's three stars: Gordon Pinsent, a dark haired man dressed as a priest and holding a crucifix, John Beck, a blonde man dressed as a minister, his hands clasped in prayer, and Paul Hecht, a dark haired mustachioed man wearing rabbinical garments, his arms spread wide. The eyes of all three men look skyward, their heads each crowned with a glowing halo. The trio casts a shadow which suggests three men brandishing pistols. It claims to be "a kind of ecumenical Three Musketeers."

There also appear two telephone numbers for a "Dial-a-Joke" service. Whether related to the film, or simply offered to provide you with bonus laughter independent of it, is unclear.

A one sheet poster for "Only God Knows," featuring the same artwork as the newspaper ad, presented in two colours, with additional small black and white line illustrations that are difficult to discern, but seem to suggest a certain amount of the film's highjinkery. There appears to be a car chase, perhaps some kind of fire, and all three men might be sitting together in a bathtub?

A CANART/QUEENSBURY PRESENTATION.
