You have to be incredibly shallow and intellectual lazy to believe that the only thing holding up our collective memory of the past is a statue. 🗃️

I have a lot of thoughts about the role that sites of memory (including statues) play and the result of getting rid of them, but generally I feel like - it doesn't CHANGE people's memories or ability to learn about the past, but it absolutely can and does affect how they feel or relate to it.
