Possibly agree about formal calculations but I think fractions as a comparison are already part of children’s vocabulary (fill the cup half full etc). Better to tighten up the different meanings of fractions at primary (position, comparison, division etc)

Therein lies part of the problem for me. Those sorts of early formations about fractions are what causes issues later on. Better to avoid them all until they can be introduced in a more forward facing, rigorous way.
