a flawless pilot and a still-perfect show
Doing a rewatch is always iffy. What if something you love doesn't hold up? I'm happy to report that, not only does it hold up, but the first episode of Leverage is a master class in establishing a series.
Alt: An introductory shot of a blonde cat burglar on a roof. The name tag "parker" pops up, followed by multiple abortive attempts to describe her, ending on simply "thief."
one of my all-time favorites. the show still holds up beautifully, though timothy hutton himself didn’t hold up so well 🙃
One of my very few guest-level auditions I’ve had so far was for a role on the reboot and MAN I wanted it so bad
My bar for "Perfect" movie or show is "it was exactly what it was trying to be," and Leverage nails it, 100%. Playful without being goofy. Heartfelt without being saccharine. Actors that trust the writers, writers that trust the actors. Just *chef's kiss*.
It was the first show where I not only wasn't bored of the "Will They, Won't They" but actively rooted so much for Parker and Hardison, I was *this* close to making pennant flags to wave around whenever they had a scene together.
