Older Women are Being Significantly Shortchanged by Medical Research "Men are the focus of more health studies, leaving unanswered questions about women and cancer, Alzheimer’s and other serious conditions."– Stephanie Faubion, Mayo Clinic’s Center for Women’s Health Gift link!
Men are the focus of much more health research, leaving unanswered questions about women and cancer, Alzheimer’s and other serious conditions.
This is true and so enraging, the older I get, because I remember my mom and other moms complaining this inequity (among others!) when I was a kid in the 1970s. I really thought we’d have fixed some things by now.
I’m in the middle of a brief conversation about, well, why not just educate teen boys about women’s health in a way that’s not anti-woman (ie periods are not icky), and I feel this is a very similar, if not the same conversation about our culture.
Apparently you can't even read gift links without an account now.
The constant state of acquiring new ailments as I age and posing the question of whether it's due to being post menopausal and being fully confident my doctor will shrug shoulders or that there is absolutely no research on it....
Now that I am an older woman myself, and smarter and richer than ever, I can clearly see all the medical BS and lack of any real knowledge, shrouded in bias.
