Someone pointed out that of you see a union get what seems like a very high wage raise, it's actually 19 years of wages that were suppressed or the workers were asked to *understand* how tough it was for a company. A bump that high, as you say, indicates they were getting totally screwed.
When a bump is that high, not only were workers getting screwed but the company is acknowledging that, as they are likely to lose in arbitration.
UAW didn't get their COLA from 2008 until like last year.
