Heres the story he wouldnt tell you. There was once a mage named Tremere, he was so afraid of death and losing his power he sole blood from a vampire to preform a ritual for immortality, and it worked...sort of. It made him and his friends vampires but at the cost of their magic.

They had to develop a pale imitation of the mortal magic they once had, thaumaturgy. But alas other vampires would not take them seriously, they were posers and try hards. So they found a sleeping Saulot, a vampire who sought peace and enlightenment. And Tremere devoured his soul.
