Taught a class on writing for anthologies yesterday, and I think the most useful part, apart from doing randomized writing exercises to get people used to the concepts we were discussing, was breaking down and visualizing how word counts work for people.
There is a lot of fatigue in the creative economy. In-house creatives are not immune from it. When I’m feeling worn down by the scarcity, competition, and technological shifts, I try to focus on the fulfillment that comes from my own creative work, be it paid or hobby. Creation heals.
