I show a Jonathan Kozol clip every semester where he talks, very mournfully, about how he once imagined he would live to see the end of American educational apartheid and now knows he won't. And for some reason that hit me a bit harder today. Almost cried a little during my lecture.

"My white friends feel personally offended when I mention they're living in the bastion of American apartheid" is so on freaking point. I referred to the BPS Exam Schools as modern "segregation academies" and you would think I said "your kids are KKK members".
