I'd like to blow another excuse out of the water. The claim that shunning AI is classist. Not all NaNoWriMo participants take their writings past themselves. It flexes muscles they don't usually use. Anyone of any income level can do that. On top of that, how many AI services charge for their use?

Wow. Even if you imagine a scenario without any ethical/plagiarism issues of generative AI, *at best* you are commissioning the AI to write a thing, and giving it lots of (or a little) feedback and encouragement, which is not the same as writing it yourself. 1/🧵

As an SFF writer, I have thought about stories of AI systems as un-personed systems of servitude. I have thought about them as the un-personed but anthropomorphized system that got smart enough to feel love or hate for a person it served. but all of those things need a "leap" that we all handwave.

It's "What Did NaNo Do Now" Day already? I swear it comes earlier every year.
