Can we just take a moment to reflect on the notion of wanting disabled people to speak on a panel about disability while taking absolutely no measures to protect people from an airborne virus that can leave you disabled with long covid or even dead Just...let it ferment between your ears for a bit.
But think how many more disabled writers they’ll have to select for panelling if they can get those long covid numbers up!
My spouse and I have to be very COVID conscious so I had to skip my local writer’s festival last month because their entire masking policy was “you’re allowed to wear one if you want but we won’t insist that people wear them” and no thank you bye I’m not going to pay for privilege of getting COVID
The fact that they won't refund for sickness means more sick people will just go if their symptoms aren't very bad, too :/ There is so much wrong with this.

They really would like us to ignore the risk- then if we get bill they’d be all ‘but you knew the risks’
They left out a word in their first sentence: *Ignoring* the safety of speakers, staff, & attendees is their top priority
AND refusing to refund them after (a) not sharing their covid policy before registration and (b) finally sharing it after the deadline to cancel without penalty had passed So they get the money regardless
I feel like I wandered into a little patch of sanity in these comments, though. So many people are out there living life like it’s 2019! I don’t get it!
