The Globe supported residential schools for decades. Here’s how it stopped: Residential schools were built for cultural assimilation, and from the 19th century onward, The Globe often talked about them in a positive light. Many Indigenous children would not live to see that change by the 1980s

What to know about National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Orange Shirt Day: Monday marks the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, coinciding with Orange Shirt Day. Both aim to raise awareness of the history of residential schools and to honour its victims and survivors

I'm of the school of thought that says the texts were composed as written texts, sometimes mimicking oral ones. Used for educational purposes in training of scribes who memorized them. Basically the model of David M Carr. So intellectual elites, all of them.

So .. if you're following me because of the "starter pack," thank you! I'm pretty quiet on here, but do occasionally post about Achaemenids, Elephantine papyri, and the biblical book of Chronicles.

Absolutely! But Kings never sets the agenda except in the instance of who built the temple. That should have been David in Chr's schema. Ben Zvi calls this one of the "agreed facts" that couldn't be changed - that Solomon built it. But everything else was changeable including timelines, cf Josiah.
